The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas visited today, Sunday 4 November, the memorial of the German and international communist movement's leaders Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht and Wilhelm Pieck in Berlin where he laid a wreath.
"Here, from Berlin, today we are honoring the dead heroes of the struggle. Of the Greek working class, of the German working class, of the revolutionary movement, of the international movement, who offered so much in humanity, in their countries, so that the new generations can live better" said D. Koutsoumbas and added that "The visions, the ideals which all these communists have fallen for, are alive and timely and they call us in the struggle, in order to make them practice".
The KKE General Secretary, heading a delegation of the Party including Politburo member Kostas Paraskevas and Central Committee member Zisis Lymberides, alongside members and supporters of the KKE in Berlin, also visited the memorial dedicated to communist hero and legendary KKE cadre Nikos Beloyannis at the former Higher School of Economics of GDR.
Dimitris Koutsoumbas, who is on a two-day visit in Berlin, delivered a speech on Saturday evening during an event in honor of the KKE's 100th anniversary. The event took place in Schorfheide, at the same building where the 9th Congress of the- then illegal in Greece due to the military dictatorship - KKE had been held in 1973.
The KKE event in Berlin was attended by representatives of the German Communist Party (DKP) and the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP).
