The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) has denounced as harmful to national sovereignty, the restoration of operations by the US multinational oil giant Chevron in the country, following an agreement with the social democratic government of Nicolas Maduro.
Pedro Eusse, a member of the Political Bureau of the PCV, said that the information was first disclosed through foreign media and not through official channels in the country. "It is alarming that agreements of this magnitude are disclosed through informal channels and are not subject to public scrutiny," Eusse warned.
