In response, a demonstration will take place on Saturday, May 16, in Helsingborg. The rally will assemble at 13:00 at Furutorpsplatsen.
The demonstration is organized by several organizations, including the Communist Party of Sweden (SKP). More information is available at stoppanato.nu.
SKP sends a clear message to all NATO representatives arriving in Sweden:
NATO killers, go home!
Under this slogan, SKP and the Communist Youth League of Sweden (SKU) will march as a unified bloc.
NATO is the spearhead of Euro-Atlantic imperialism. Its bombs have fallen on countless countries, and its troops are deployed across the globe to defend the interests of capital in its member states. In doing so, it has quite literally stepped over the dead. These victims have been found in Belgrade and Tripoli, in Kabul and Mogadishu. Everywhere, NATO has secured the interests of capital—and everywhere it has done so by any means necessary.
Sweden, a small but ambitious power with significant economic interests abroad but limited capacity to defend them independently, now aligns itself fully in the struggle against its competitors. In this struggle, young men and women will be sent to their deaths. For the profits of Swedish capital, they will be expected to sacrifice their lives.
We refuse to accept this and will continue our struggle against NATO and against capitalism.
Communists say no to NATO. We say no to Swedish soldiers beyond Sweden’s borders and no to foreign troops on Swedish soil—no more deaths for the profit of capital!
