The party announced a week of political activities and protests between 4 and 12 July, culminating in a major rally on 5 July against NATO, imperialism and Turkey’s deepening involvement in Euro-Atlantic military plans.
The party sharply criticizes the Erdoğan government for hosting the summit, accusing it of tying the country even more closely to NATO’s strategic objectives while workers and youth face worsening living conditions, poverty and insecurity. TKP argues that Turkey’s ruling class seeks a more active role within imperialist rivalries, turning the country into a military and geopolitical hub for NATO operations in the wider region.
Calling on workers, students and anti-imperialist organizations to participate in the demonstrations, the communists stress that opposition to NATO cannot be separated from the struggle against capitalism itself. “No to NATO, no to imperialist wars,” is expected to be one of the central slogans of the mobilizations.
The Ankara summit will be the second NATO summit hosted by Turkey after the 2004 Istanbul meeting and is expected to gather the leaders of all NATO member states.
