European Communist Action teleconference: Reject the parties of the EU, capital and ‘green’ exploitation

On 14 January 2024, the parties of the European Communist Action (ECA) held a teleconference under the theme: “Reject the parties of the EU, capital and ‘green’ exploitation. The hope for saving the environment is red”.

Kostas Papadakis, MEP and member of the CC of the KKE, delivered the introductory speech at the teleconference. The delegates of the CPs exchanged views on the issue of environmental protection and the so-called green growth. During the works, there was agreement and a significant convergence of views on important aspects of the issue.

Thousands marched in honor of heroic communists Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht in Berlin

More than 3,000 people of all ages, workers, men and women, participated in a large rally in Berlin, commemorating the 105th anniversary of the murder of heroic communist revolutionaries Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht.

Luxemburg and Liebknecht were brutally murdered on January 15th, 1919 by  paramilitary troops of the social democratic government and the German bourgeoisie shortly after the violent suppression of the Berlin workers' revolution.

Greece: New mobilizations against the presence of US-NATO ships in the country

People’s protests against the escalation of the presence of US-NATO ships and troops in Greece continue. Greece’s ND government, together with its NATO allies, is involving the country more and more deeply in the dangerous imperialist plans and wars against the peoples of the region.

On Saturday 13^th January in Thessaloniki, the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) organized a rally against the presence of NATO ships of the US, Germany and G. Britain with the slogan: “Thessaloniki is a port of the peoples, not a launching pad for the imperialists”.

KKE condemns US-British air strikes in Yemen

In a statement following the U.S- British air strikes against Houthis in Yemen, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) warns about the risks of a generalized war. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads:

Saint Joseph: Anti-communists in Georgia run amok over Stalin icon in Tbilisi Cathedral

Even as an icon, Joseph Stalin causes panic to all kinds of anti-communists everywhere in the world. Here is an interesting story coming Tbilisi, Georgia:  Local authorities are investigating the defacing of a recently-installed icon in Tbilisi's main cathedral depicting the legendary Soviet leader.

An unknown culprit splashed paint on Tuesday on the icon, which has been displayed in Tbilisi's Holy Trinity Cathedral for several months, Georgia’s Interpress news agency reported. Footage on social media showed the icon defaced with blue paint. 

Israel: Communist lawmaker Ofer Cassif faces possible expulsion from Knesset

Seventy Knesset members signed a motion on Monday to support the expulsion of lawmaker Ofer Cassif (Hadash) from the Knesset over his support of South Africa’s petition against the Israeli government at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Cassif announced on Sunday that he would be joining the lawsuit against the war in Gaza in the Hague. More specifically, in his announcement, he claimed:

Farewell to veteran Danish communist Anton Nielsen

Numerous friends, comrades and workers paid farewell to veteran Danish communist Anton Nielsen who died at the age of 84. The civil funeral took place on January 6 at the Construction Workers' Union (BJMF) in Copenhagen.  

The memorial event was attended, among others, by members of the KKE and KNE branches in Denmark.

Anton Nielsen, a bricklayer by profession, was a lifelong committed communist and anti-imperialist, President of the anti-fascist group Horserød-Stutthof Foreningen, member of the FIR.

Indignation and total rejection has been registered in the last hours in the ranks of the Communist Party of Venezuela after President Nicolás Maduro confirmed his participation in the judicial assault on the PCV on January 4 and declared -without any proof- that the legitimate leadership, elected by the XVI National Congress, had "surrendered" to "corruption" and "imperialism".

The European Communist Action expresses its firm solidarity with the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), which is currently under severe attack by the PSUV's regime in power in the country.

The Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan condemns the final decision of the State Commission for the Final Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression to acquit 311 thousand people, many of whom are criminal criminals or persons with weapons who fought as terrorists, Basmachi, members of the Turkestan Legion and Eastern Muslim SS units against the Red Army and the Soviet government.

All are now being presented as "victims of the Stalinist regime of the 20-50s of the XX century," although among them there were a lot of people convicted of banditry, sabotage, plundering public property, for attacks on trains and motor vehicles with the aim of robbery, which in the 20s and early 30s was equated to political crimes.

It was in the dawn of January 21, 1924, 100 years ago, when the heart of the greatest revolutionary in modern history, Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, stopped beating. 

Lenin, the leader of the 1917 Great October Socialist Revolution and architect of the first socialist state in the world, was 54 years old.

The name of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin is identified with two dialectically connected issues. On the one hand, there is his revolutionary activity and practice as the leader of the 20th century's most significant event- the 1917 Great October Socialist Revolution.

Israeli occupation army has detained senior Palestinian Left political leader Khalida Jarrar from her home in the West Bank. Witnesses told WAFA that Israeli forces raided the city of Al Bireh, and arrested Jarrar after searching her home.

Jarrar is a prominent figure in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the second largest faction in the Palestine Liberation Organization, and was elected a member of the legislative council in the last parliamentary elections held in 2006.

32 years since the dissolution of the Soviet Union: The Red Flag will rise again

It was thirty-two years ago, on December 26, 1991, when the red flag with the sickle and hammer was lowered from the Kremlin.

It was then, during the cold days of December, when the first socialist state of the world, the homeland of the world's proletariat, bent under the weight of the counterrevolution. Four days before, on December 22nd, the leaderships of three of the largest Soviet republics had decided the dissolution of the USSR, while the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) had been outlawed on summer of the same year.

Communist Party of the Workers of Spain: We reject any Spanish participation in imperialist mission in the Red Sea

Alfred Marder, US communist and long-time peace activist, dies at 102

On 19 December 2023, the US Peace Council announced the death of comrade Alfred Marder, a steadfast internationalist, and anti-imperialist, died last night. Al was exactly one month shy of reaching 102 years old.

The KKE votes against Mitsotakis government's anti-popular budget

The 21 MPs of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) voted against the 2024 budget proposed by the New Democracy government, which increases taxation on the popular strata in order to increase the profitability of capital. 

During the debate, the MPs of the KKE lambasted the government’s draft budget, highlighting its anti-labour and class character in favour of businessmen, and demanded increases in wages and pensions and the abolition of anti-popular taxes.
