KKE - TKP: Greek and Turkish Communist leaders meet, reaffirm strong fraternal relations

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas met on Sunday (4/5) morning with Kemal Okuyan, General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), 902 portal reported

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the KKE in Perissos, Athens and was also attended by Giorgos Marinos, member of the Political Bureau of the KKE Central Committee, Elisseos Vagenas, member of the KKE Central Committee and head of the KKE International Relations Department. 

On behalf of the Communist Party of Turkey, the attendants included Cansu Oba, member of the Central Committee and head of the International Relations Department as well as Aslihan Çakaloglu, member of the Party Council and the International Relations Department.

Welcoming the delegation of the TKP, Dimitris Koutsoumbas made the following statement: 

"We welcome you here in Athens, at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the KKE. It is a great joy and honor to have you with us today. The relations between the KKE and the Communist Party of Turkey are traditional, fraternal, and comradely. We express once again our solidarity with the struggle of the Communist Party of Turkey alongside the Turkish people, who are fighting against today's barbarity, against wars, poverty, and injustice. We have fraternal relations. The two peoples have nothing to divide between them and we will walk together on the same path, as always. Thank you for your presence here."

From his side, Kemal Okuyan stated: "We also thank you very much for the warm welcome you have shown us. We are in a time when all developments are accelerating at a very fast pace both in the world and in the region where we are located. Therefore, it is a time when we also need to accelerate our actions accordingly. The KKE is a party that you know we hold in high regard; it serves as an example for us. We have close, brotherly, comradely relations and we will continue to have them. Thank you very much."
