Greece elections: 300 thousand votes and 15 parliament seats for the Communist Party (KKE)

Early general elections were held in Greece on 7 July 2019, in which the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) received 300,000 votes and 5.3%,  with the  re-election of 15 MPs to the Greek Parliament.

This result was achieved in conditions of the change of the correlation of forces amongst the bourgeois parties, a generalized trend towards increasing conservatism, blackmail, disillusionment that had been sowed by the anti-people political line of the "left" SYRIZA government.

The conservative party of New Democracy (ND) came first with 39.8% and popular discontent was expressed towards the SYRIZA government, which received 31.5%.

KINAL, the continuation of old social-democracy in Greece, entered the new parliament with 8.1%, the nationalist-racist party "Greek Solution" with 3.7% and the other social-democratic party MERA25 with 3.4% also entered parliament. In contrast, 16 parties did not pass the election threshold of 3%, including the criminal fascist organization of Golden Dawn whose vote shrunk significantly to 2.9%.

The KKE calls on the people to decide who to vote for on these elections based on what they really need for the next day. The KKE is the party, whichstruggles not only to get back everything we lost in the years of the capitalist crisis, but also for everyone to have a job thatwill be able to offerthem alife,in which their needs are being met,a life withcontemporary rights. It struggles for the organization of the society and the economy, where the worker will not be a victimof exploitation but will have a decisive and dominant role in the organization of production, in the distribution of wealth, in order to improvethe quality of life for everyone.

The phony radicalism of Yanis Varoufakis and his MERA25 party

The former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis is back and ready to participate in Greece's general elections on July 7th. Once again, the flamboyant economist tries to present himself as a "radical", "pro-european leftist" and an anti-establishment political force, aiming to attract voters who have been dissapointed by the anti-people policy of SYRIZA

First of all, Varoufakis tries to obfuscate the reality about his past as a member of the Tsipras' government. He denounces the pro-memorandum, pro-austerity stance of SYRIZA but he doesn't say a word about his own contribution to this policy. Why? The answer is clear and straightforward: Varoufakis had been an accomplice in the preparation and voting, by the SYRIZA government, of the 3rd memorandum in 2015.
