Venezuelan Elections: Maduro triumphs, calls for dialogue with opposition parties

President Nicolas Maduro won the Venezuelan presidential elections Sunday, gaining a second presidential term for six years with more than 5.8 million votes, the National Electoral Council (CNE) announced Sunday night. 

With 92.6 percent of the votes counted, Maduro had 5.8 million votes, while his closest rival, former governor Henri Falcón getting 1.8 million votes, said CNE President Tibisay Lucena who added that in total, 8.6 million Venezuelans voted, out of an electoral registry of 20.5 million people.

KKE denounces European Parliament's interference in Venezuela's internal affairs

In a statement, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) group at the EU Parliament denounces a recent resolution adopted by political groups regarding the upcoming elections in Venezuela:

"The KKE group at the European Parliament voted against the unacceptable and provocative common resolution of the European People's Party, Social Democrats and Liberals which, consisting another intervention in Venezuela's internal affairs, asks for the postponement of the upcoming elections in this country and the conduction of them under the rules set by the EU.

Venezuela: The Communist Party (PCV) will back the candidacy of Nicolas Maduro

According to Prensa Latina, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) announced that it will back the candidacy of President Nicolas Maduro, in an effort to work for the development of the country and the people. 

A week ago, the resolution of the PCV's 14th National Conference had proposed a "PSUV-PCV Unified Pact" based on a "broad coalition of political and social forces". 

According to an agreement released yesterday by the national press, the pact includes 17 actions in order to protect social struggles, safeguard the rights of the working class and the projection of more social, economic and political initiatives.

Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) offers conditional support to Nicolas Maduro

While the aggressiveness of the United States, the EU and other Latin American countries against Venezuela's social democratic PSUV government continues, political preparations for the April 22nd presidential elections have already started. 

The 14th National Conference of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), which was held last weekend in Caracas, evaluated the current political, social and economic situation and discussed the Party's stance in the upcoming elections. The PCV's Conference Resolution talks about "a broad coalition of political and social forces” as part of a "PSUV-PCV Unified Pact" in order to tackle "Venezuela's dependent and rentier capitalism with anti-imperialist, patriotic and popular political and socio-economic actions".
