The KKE condemns the threats and war preparations of US imperialism and the state of Israel for a new attack against Iran, as demonstrated by the build-up of massive firepower in the Persian Gulf. The region is at the centre of the storm of imperialist competition and could at any moment be engulfed in the flames of imperialist war.
The planning of the spurious “Board of Peace” promoted by the US, the formation of the so-called “International Stabilization Force” and the dispatch of military forces to Gaza with the aim of turning it into a US and Israeli protectorate, along with the annexation of further Palestinian territories in the West Bank, constitute links in the chain of the imperialist plan for the “New Middle East”.
The New Democracy government bears enormous responsibility and is putting the people at great risk. We demand that it immediately cease all military support to the US and Israeli forces for an attack on Iran; cancel the formation and deployment of Greek troops to Gaza; withdraw the Patriot missile battery from Saudi Arabia; and recall the frigates from the Red Sea.
The people must oppose imperialist plans and the policy of the country’s involvement in the conflict, and express their solidarity with the peoples.
