Communist Party of Cuba blasts Trump government's threats: We are the country of Patria o Muerte!

In a statement, Roberto Morales Ojeda,  member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, stresses the following (read here in Spanish):

"From the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), we firmly denounce the new Executive Order issued by President Trump, which seeks to impose a total blockade on fuel supplies to Cuba in order to create greater hardships for our people and to obstruct the construction of our socialist model.

That fascist government continues its escalation of aggression against the Cuban people, employing the same fallacious arguments and its well-known policy of coercion and blackmail. It is that criminal and neocolonial empire that constitutes the true and sole threat to peace in our region and in the world.

There will be no intensified blockades, threats, or aggressions capable of undermining the steadfastness and resistance of this heroic people and of the Revolution. We are the country of Patria o Muerte! We shall emerge victorious, just as we have done for 67 years, during which they have not been able — nor will they be able — to defeat us.

In addition to being extremely cynical, it is aberrant to declare Cuba a threat to the richest country in the world. It is evident that the pretext invoked by the government of the United States is absurd, serving solely to suffocate a country that is small in geographical terms but immense in dignity and sovereignty.

Cuba neither threatens nor represents any danger to the security of the American people, and this is well known worldwide. It is the internal situation of that nation — a victim of hatred and intolerance, of racism and violence — that truly threatens its own society.

It will never be lies, threats, or blackmail that succeed in bringing the Cuban people to their knees. The imperialist government lashes out at our nation through a disrespectful and extraterritorial act, typical of a bellicose administration determined to trample on the rights of others.

A just idea emerging from the depths of a cave is more powerful than an army; we learned this from Martí. The international community knows very well which side truth and justice are on. There will be no surrender — we will fight, and we will prevail."
