Turkish communists cowardly attacked by fascists in Ankara University — Messages of solidarity

On November 21, students-members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and the Communist Youth (TKG) became targets of a cowardly attack by fascists, presumably members of "Grey Wolves" far-right group, outside the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University's Cebeci campus. Two Communist Party members were slightly injured.

There was a similar attack attempt by fascists at the same faculty a few days earlier, but it was repelled by TKP members.

"We will not surrender neither our beloved country nor our school to fascists, reactionaries and collaborators!”, underlined the Communist Youth of Turkey in a statement.

Solidarity messages

"We express our solidarity with our comrades of the Communist Youth and the militant students in Turkey, in the daily struggle they give in the universities for the education and life they deserve", reads a solidarity statement by the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE).

From their side, the New Communist Party of the Netherlands (NCPN) and the Communist Youth Movement (CJB) declare their "solidarity with our comrades and condemn this cowardly attack. After our comrades took their exams, they were attacked by about 25-30 fascists on their way out of the university, two TKP members were slightly injured. We hope for their speedy recovery. Fascism is again showing its ugly face as an enemy of the working class, of progressive students, of communists, fighting for a better society, against the darkness these running dogs of capital are striving for".
