NATO's "good boy": KKE comments on Mitsotakis-Biden meeting in Washington DC

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis "is 'selling' the Greek state's role as the "good boy" in NATO but also as an "intermediate" for the business deals in energy that are being promoted - with the USA in a dominant role - on the background of the war in Ukraine," the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) comments on the meeting between the Greek PM and U.S President Joe Biden in Washington DC.

"The big losers, however, from this 'transaction' will be "the Greek people, who will pay for the 'best moment in the Greek-US relations' with a deeper involvement in the war plans, with greater energy poverty and a new round of NATO armament supplies along with new great perils for the country's sovereign rights. Those that benefit will be the so-called investors, namely the business groups," the KKE adds.

Regarding the alleged protection against Turkey, the party added, "one has only to look at the bargaining underway at this time between NATO-USA and Turkey over Sweden and Finland's accession to NATO. Preserving NATO's cohesion, which also affects Greek-Turkish relations, is the factor that drives the undermining of sovereign rights and solutions of 'joint exploitation'", the KKE concludes.

It is noted that Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis met with U.S President Biden at the White House on Monday, in the first day of an official two-day visit to the U.S capital.
