"Si Fottano!": Italian communist leader Marco Rizzo tore up EU Parliament's resolution which equates communism with fascism

Thousands of members and supporters of the Communist Party (Partito Comunista) from across the country gathered on Saturday in Rome's Piazza Santi Apostoli, protesting against Italy's bourgeois government and the European Union. 

In a symbolic gesture, the General Secretary of the Communist Party, Italy, Marco Rizzo tore up a copy of the recent EU Parliament's resolution which equates communism with fascism. In his speech, Rizzo condemned the resolution for rewriting history through the unhistorical and despicable claim that the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was the cause behind the Second World War. 

The 21st International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) to be hosted in Izmir on 18-20 October

The  Turkish city of Izmir will be the hosting place of the 21st International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) which will take place on October 18-20, under the shared responsibility of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).

As soL portal reports, the theme of the meeting will be “100th Anniversary of the founding of the Communist International: The fight for peace and socialism continues!”

POMPEO GO HOME: Thousands demonstrated against the visit of the U.S. Secretary of State in Greece

Thousands of workers, people of every age, participate in today's demonstrations in Athens, Thessaloniki and other Greek cities against the visit of the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. 

With slogans like "neither soil nor water to the murderers of the people" and "Close down the bases, no participation in NATO's wars", the demonstrators gathered at Syntagma Square in Athens. The protest was attended by the General Secretary of  the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas who, talking to reporters, pointed out the following:

Greece: Massive nationwide strike against ND government's anti-worker measures

The class trade unions of Greece, thousands of workers from all sectors responded to the call of the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) and held a new massive National General Strike on the 2nd of October against the measures of New Democracy government that attack wages, Collective Agreements, trade union rights and freedoms and the right to strike.

Since early morning, across Greece and in every sector, the trade unions and Federations fought for the success of the strike with militant picket lines outside of factories, banks and other workplaces.

POMPEO GO HOME: Greek anti-imperialists to protest against Mike Pompeo's visit in Athens

The anti-imperialist movement in Greece prepares a militant "welcome" for the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who is going to visit the country on Saturday 5th of October. 

Demonstrations against the renewal of the Greece-U.S. Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) and the visit of Pompeo have been scheduled to take place in Athens, Thessaloniki and other cities. 

In a statement issued today, the Political Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) calls "the workers, the people and the youth to rise against the visit of the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and mainly against the transformation of Greece into a vast US-NATO base".

Human tragedy in Greece's Moria refugee camp — Statement by the KKE

A woman from Afghanistan and her child are the victims of the fire that broke out in a container in the refugee camp of Moria on the Greek island of Lesvos on Sunday afternoon. 

The State-run news agency AMNA reports that the body of the woman was transferred to the hospital in the city of Mytilene with a private car, while it was the refugees who retrieved the body of the child.

Communist youth organizations condemn the EU Parliament's anti-communist resolution

After an initiative by the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), numerous communist youth organization around the world have signed a joint resolution in which the condemn the recent despicable anti-communist resolution adopted by the European Parliament. 

As 902 portal reports, the joint declaration of the communist youth organizations, among other things, expresses condemnation towards the EU Parliament's resolution because it "promotes the equation of communism with fascism, in fact exonerating the fascists and their activity".

AKEL responds to Erdogan's remarks at the UN General Assembly

Responding to the remarks made by the President of Turkey Rejep Tayyip Erdogan at the 74th U.N. General Assembly in New York, the Press Office of the CC of the Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL) issued the following statement:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reiterated from the podium of the UN General Assembly Turkey's well-known positions on the Cyprus problem and its claims in the Eastern Mediterranean. The leader of the occupyingpower has even provocatively claimed that the Greek Cypriots are the reason why the Cyprus problem has not been resolved for 50 years.

KKE comment on Mitsotakis' visit in New York

Commenting on the recent visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in New York within the context of the 74th United Nations General Assembly, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) pointed out the following:

"Despite the effort of the government to present in a positive way the visit of the Prime Minister in New York and his meeting with President Erdogan, the raw truth for the people's interests is in the opposite direction. 

Greece — U.S. military installations in Crete and the mainland to be upgraded and extended

Greece's involvement in the imperialist plans of U.S. and NATO increases as a result of the agreement between the U.S. and Greek governments which upgrades and extends the american military installations in the country. 

According to an exclusive report published in "Rizospastis" on Monday, within the framework of the "Greece-USA Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreeement (MDCA)", the governments of the United States and Greece have agreed to extend the U.S. Naval Base in Souda, Crete, as well as to proceed to the creation of new military installations. The agreement is due to take place in 2020. 

Greece: Thousands joined PAME strike rallies against government's anti-workers measures

Thousands of workers took part in today’s strike and strike demonstrations organized by the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) in Greece's major cities against the anti-workers’ measures of the government.

From the central strike rally in Athens, the militant Greek trade unions expressed their solidarity with the workers of France, who suffer the same attack on their working rights and lives and who also were on strike on the same day. 

Thomas Cook bankruptcy — PAME calls the company's workers to assert their rights

In a statement regarding the bankruptcy of the travel giant "Thomas Cook" published in 902 portal, the Secretariat in Catering-Tourism-Hotels of the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) points out the following:

KNE-Odigitis festival in Athens: Awe-inspiring political event addressed by D. Koutsoumbas

A speech by the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Saturday evening marked the end of the three-day events of the 45th KNE-Odigitis festival in Athens. 

In a awe-inspiring political gathering, which attracted thousands of people of every age, Koutsoumbas sent a message of political resistance and counterattack, stressing out that "with our struggles, our dreams, our power, we can build a free world, open and full of hope, socialism". 

Turkey's "red mayor" Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu visited Greece

Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, the militant mayor of the Turkish city of Dersim, paid his first visit to Greece after an invitation by "New Star" studio cinema. 

During his stay in Athens Mr Maçoğlu participated in numerous events, including the screening of two documentaries ("From Soil to Sky" and "Dersim") and a book presentation ("Komünist Başkan-The Communist Mayor"). 

The mayor of Dersim, who has been elected with the list of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), had the opportunity to visit the 45th KNE-Odigitis festival which is taking place at Athens' Tritsis Park from 19 to 21 September. He was welcomed by members of KNE, toured the festival's premises and also signed the resolution against the "US-Greece mutual defense agreement on bases". 

EU Parliament's new despicable anti-communist resolution distorts history

Once again the EU Parliament proves its role as a leading instrument of anti-communist distortion of history. 

In a joint resolution signed by the political groups of the People's Party, the Social Democrats, the Liberals, the Greens and the Conservative Reformists, the EU tries - once again - to equate communism with fascism-nazism and legalize the unacceptable reactionary measures against the Communist Parties and their activity in a number of member-states. 

Solidarity with the striking workers of General Motors in the U.S. — WFTU statement

On Sept. 16, 50,000 General Motors workers walked off the job in their first strike since 2007, protesting idled plants and low wages. 

Workers on picket lines outside GM factories waved signs declaring “UAW On Strike.” In Bowling Green, Kentucky, they blocked the three entrances to the assembly plant, which normally builds the Chevrolet Corvette.
