Communist Party of Turkey: NATO Foreign Ministers are unwelcome in Antalya!

Statement of the CC of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) on the occasion of the NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting in Antalya on May 14-15:

"They are there on behalf of an alliance (!) 

An alliance whose members laugh and joke at each other in luxurious halls, at sumptuous tables, and shower each other with gifts. 

Then… 

Then these men in suits of international capital are withdrawn from the stage. The laughter gives way to bloody slaughters. This time there are no clowns in suits on the stage. There are millions who are fiercely struggling for their occupied homelands, shattered families, and lost values. 

They are fighting so that those in those sumptuous halls can laugh. 

They are fighting so that the monopolies can access new markets. 

They are fighting so that the war profiteers can multiply their wealth. 

They are fighting in wars whose causes they do not even know—wars waged for the interests of those who manufacture bombs while laughing and joking. They are being driven from their homes and exiled, and the doors are being closed to them one by one. 

And do you think NATO’s own members are safe from its wrath? 

No... they are not. 

Sovereignty ends up belonging unconditionally to NATO. Everything is consolidated under NATO and handed over to the US, which treats NATO bases as if they were its own territory. That’s why it can casually say, “Bring the S-400s and leave them at İncirlik base.” 

Now, those in the government are talking about putting our people on the front line for the sake of “Europe’s security.” Just as they once applauded handing over Syria’s fate—right on our doorstep—to Israel and the imperialist consortium. Just as they did that day, they still hide behind the rhetoric of “national interest.”  

NATO is a criminal and terrorist organization that has brought nothing but war and devastation to humanity. It stands condemned before history—along with all its institutions and affiliates—and has earned the deep resentment of people around the world. It is a threat not only to those beyond its borders but also to the working classes within its member states. 

Today, this decaying alliance is also fracturing from within, exposing divisions among hypocritical imperialist powers and signaling to the world that even darker days may lie ahead. 

You are not welcome to Antalya, to Turkey! 

The days when we will get rid of all of you with your bombs, bases, agents, collaborators are not far off.

With longing for peace and fraternity,

Down with your system of exploitation!

Down with Imperialism!"
