The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) reflects on April 28th electoral results

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE), after knowing the provisional results of the General Elections held on April 28, makes the following assessments:

1) We deeply thank the thousands of votes received by our candidacies, but it is an undeniable fact that there has been a large support from the workers of our country to the false anti-fascist front organized by socialdemocracy in these general elections.

2) With less than two months of life under the acronym PCTE, we have made our acronym known and we have given firm steps in the organizational scope. There is still too much to do and to advance for us, there is no doubt. This has just been a first test in which the calls for a useful vote, relentless in all the campaigns but multiplied in this occasion because of the presence of Vox; the continuous bureaucratic barriers and the media blackout, apart from a series of irregularities detected in polling stations from several constituencies. Nevertheless, we are proud of having carried out a campaign which has proved effective when projecting our speech and showing that communists are on conditions to struggle in the electoral front too.

3) Once the new communist acronym was presented, the organizational goals we had for this campaign have been accomplished in a satisfactory way: we have increased our membership, our business, local and territorial organizations have been reinforced and we have set contacts to be present on a stable way in all the Autonomous Communities. The acronym PCTE is today better known than yesterday. Many more workers know today there is in Spain, once again, the Communist Party.

4) We understand these general elections are the first part of an electoral cycle that does not end until May 26, with the holding of the municipal, autonomic and European Elections. It will be then when a general assessment of all the electoral participation of our party should be made.

5) As of the general results, the formula of the Government eventually made will be completely functional to capitalist interests. It is evident the working class will again lose out after the post-electoral pacts. As we have constantly repeated since last March 3, the only way out the working-class and popular majority has is to keep up struggling everyday at workplaces, study centres, in our villages and cities in defence of some life and labour conditions that are going to be still threatened by any capitalist government.

A more experienced and stronger PCTE is the guarantee to make the working class stronger in all its struggles. The only way out for the working majority is to conquer a country for the working class. We will keep on focusing all our efforts in this task.
