Patras' communist mayor Kostas Peletidis wins a landslide victory with over 70% of the votes

The communist mayor of Patras, Greece's third largest city, Kostas Peletidis, has been re-elected in office in the second round of the local elections that took place on Sunday. 

Peletidis, who has the support of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), gained 70,91% winning a landslide victory over his opponent G. Alexopoulos. 

Kostas Peletidis, a doctor by profession, was elected for the first time in Patras' mayorship in 2014 and since then his administration has been an shining example of pro-people policies, always standing by the side of the working class and the popular strata against the barbaric measures of the bourgeois governments. 

After the announcement of the results, Peletidis arrived at the "People's Rally" electoral headquarters in the center of Patras where he was welcomed and cheered by hundreds of people.
