SYRIZA and New Democracy remain loyal to the interests of Greek industrialists

Both Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed the annual meeting of the Federation of Greek Industries (SEV), assuring the Capitalists about their commitment to the anti-worker, anti-people policy. PM and SYRIZA leader Tsipras invited the industrialists in a "fruitful and constructive dialogue" ahead of the second evaluation of the 3rd memorandum which, among other things, includes collective redundancies and a new law that will restrict the right of the labour unions to decide mass strikes.

Alexis Tsipras expressed his gratitude to the industrialists for their stance in the negotiations regarding the monstrous law-guillotine on social security - a law which demolishes the social security rights of workers and pensioners and cuts even more the current and future monthly pensions. Within the same framework, Tsipras repeated that his government remains loyal to the support of private entrepreneurship and promised new tax breaks for large companies which want to invest in Greece.

From his side, New Democracy's leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis tried to persuade the industrialists that his party is more capable than SYRIZA in securing the profitability of the big Capital. Like Tsipras, Mitsotakis stressed out that he is committed to private entrepreneurship and expressed his full support for the creation of a business-friendly environment- that means more profitability for the big companies, lower wages for the workers, more tax-breaks for the capitalists who want to invest in various sectors of the economy.

Statement by KKE

Regarding the speeches of Alexis Tsipras and Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the annual meeting of the Federation of Greek Industrialists, KKE issued a statement. Part of it is the following:

"SYRIZA and New Democracy, Tsipras and Mitsotakis are competing before the industrialists about who is more capable of serving the recovery of their profits [...] Both SYRIZA and New Democracy faithfully adhere the framework of the Capital's demands as well as the ones of the 3rd memorandum, which they voted together and which includes further overthrows in the working and labour union rights as a condition for any development.

As for Mr.Tsipras' exhortations to the industrialists to proctect the workers' rights, even under the guarantee of Juncker and the EU Commission who have lead in the worsening of these rights, the popular saying is applicable: "we put the wolves to guard the sheeps".
