The homeland must be defended: Cuban unions call for mass mobilization on May Day 2026

In the context of escalating U.S blockade and ongoing economic challenges, the Cuban trade union movement call on workers across the country to mobilize for International Workers’ Day 2026. 

 

The following statement outlines the political significance of May Day and emphasizes unity, resistance, and national defense: 

Dear Cuban workers,

Dimitris Koutsoumbas: Internationalist solidarity with Cuba, the U.S. blockade must stop

During a meeting with a delegation of the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (Central de Trabajadores de Cuba - CTC) today in Athens, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas denounced the unacceptable long-standing blockade of Cuba by the U.S imperialism and demanded its immediate ending. 

 

Secretary Koutsoumbas also referred to the constant internationalist solidarity of the KKE towards the Communist Party and the people of Cuba.
