The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has scored a historic victory in the municipal elections in Nokha, in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, winning a clear majority and securing control of the local administration.
According to results announced on September 14, the CPI(M) won 29 of the 45 wards in the Nokha municipality. India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 13 seats, while independent candidates won three. The Indian National Congress failed to win a single ward.
