On September 21, Kasidiaris announced his support for the "Alliance of Greeks", a party associated with former MPs of the far-right "Spartans" party. Shortly afterwards, independent MP Giorgos Manoussos declared in Parliament that he effectively represented the new formation, provoking an immediate reaction from KKE lawmakers.
KKE MP Christos Katsotis denounced the attempt to provide a new political platform for the neo-Nazi forces of Golden Dawn, challenging the appearance of Kasidiaris' political representatives in Parliament. He demanded that the government representative present in Parliament, take a clear position on the matter. Katsotis stressed that the appearance of Kasidiaris’ new political vehicle in Parliament could not be treated as an ordinary parliamentary development. “Fascists have no place in Greek society”, he declared, adding that the struggles of the working people would consign them to the dustbin of history.
The KKE had already condemned Kasidiaris' release on September 15, describing it as a provocation against the victims of Golden Dawn's criminal activity, their families and the workers and people who fought for the organization's conviction.
The Communist Party has also criticized the successive New Democracy and SYRIZA governments over the prolonged judicial proceedings against Golden Dawn, warning that the absence of a final, irrevocable court ruling could be exploited by Kasidiaris in his efforts to return to electoral politics.
The KKE maintains that the struggle against fascism cannot be separated from the struggle against the capitalist system that gives rise to it, stressing the decisive role of the organized workers' and people's movement in confronting neo-Nazi and fascist forces.
