KNE-Odigitis Festival kicked off in Athens (Drone video)

Thousands of people of every age, from every part of Athens, attended the events of the first day of the 47th KNE-Odigitis Festival which kicked off yesterday at Tritsis multidisciplinacy park. 

Numerous cultural and political events took place on Thursday, including a music concert by popular singer George Dalaras dedicated to the late iconic composer Mikis Theodorakis, stand up comedy, concerts at the student's stage, as well as a theatrical performance about the Paris Commune and a discussion on the situation in Afghanistan. 

Twenty-five delegations of Communist Youths from around the world attend this year's festivities.

Under the slogan "Live, dare, move on - for the society of true freedom, Socialism", the annual festival of the Communist Youth of Greece concludes its journey in Athens with a three-day events (23, 24, 25 September). 

The General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas and the Secretary of KNE Nikos Abatielos will be the speakers at the major political event on Saturday 25 September. 

The Athens' festivities will include numerous political and cultural events, including music concerts by popular Greek artists, such as George Dalaras, Maria Farantouri, Vasilis Papakonstantinou, Natasa Bofiliou, Miltos Paschalidis, Manolis Mitsias, Christos Thiveos, Pantelis Thalassinos, Ioulia Karapataki, Giannis Kotsiras, Giorgos Margaritis, Stavento, Rita Antonopoulou, Peggy Zina, Fivos Delivorias and others.

For the protection of the visitors and participants, the park’s premises will be formed accordingly, while KNE will take all the necessary measures of health protection (social distancing, antiseptic material, regular cleaning, etc).  

Being one of the country's most significant annual cultural events, the KNE-Odigitis festival spans a history of 47 years. The 1st festival of KNE and her newspaper "Odigitis" took place on September 1975, just months after the collapse of the 7-year old military dictatorship.
