Greece: Thousands joined PAME strike rallies against government's anti-workers measures

Thousands of workers took part in today’s strike and strike demonstrations organized by the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) in Greece's major cities against the anti-workers’ measures of the government.

From the central strike rally in Athens, the militant Greek trade unions expressed their solidarity with the workers of France, who suffer the same attack on their working rights and lives and who also were on strike on the same day.

The demonstration of PAME was attended by the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas

In a statement to news reporters Koutsoumbas said: "Today's strike is only the beginning. The development omnibus bill that the ND government brings to the Parliament for the interests of the capitalists consists a  blow for the working class, for our people. They seek to destroy the collective labour agreements, to restrict trade union rights, the people-workers' freedoms. They want to impose a "cemetery silence" to our people. We will not allow that to happen. The class movement, the KKE will be alerted. We are here and we will continue being here".

In PAME’s strike rally in Thessaloniki, the Serbian trade union SLOGA spoke and expressed the solidarity of Serbian workers with the struggle of Greek workers.

In Thessaloniki.
Today’s strike in Greece is a strong response to the government and the employers. Massive participation in today’s strike shows the way to continue and escalate.

We call the trade unions of Greece to strengthen their fight, take every measure to inform workers, to go to every workplace, every sector and organize general meetings, discussions and take militant decisions on how to continue and escalate our struggle.
