The Politbureau of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) in its weekly press conference held August 26 declared its position regarding the serious situation which affects the Brazilian Amazonian region.
With respect, the Secretary for International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCV, Carolus Wimmer, said: "The PCV warns that what is going on in the Amazon isn’t fire, its capitalism. There is a wave of information which is looking to hide the truth of the problem. The consequence of the expansion of the interests of the transnational firms in our region has naturally not only caused the exploitation of the workers and misery and hunger for the popular masses, but also the destruction of the environment."
The PCV considers that it is evident that the responsibility for the situation lies with the political expressions of the Brazilian right and naturally the government of Bolsonaro, which has allowed uncontrolled behaviour by the monopoly groups in the Amazon. Regarding this, Wimmer reminded that "It is no coincidence that while he was a senator, the current president of Brazil warned that his policies would be directed towards eliminating the indigenous people and to achieve this he would arm the landlord led groups in the region. The impact on the environment of this policy in favour of landlords and large capital is evident today. This is why we are clearly saying that the real responsibility lies with the large transnationals which make their profit at the expense of the destruction of nature."
Finally, the PCV expressed that the advance of the fires for nearly three weeks threatens 350 groups of original people, 6.7m kilometres of forest, 2.1m square km of protected land, 1m cubic km of fresh water, and 2,500 marine species. "This could convert itself into a disaster of all types and up to now, the Brazilian ultra right fascist government doesn’t react at all and looks to depict it as a normal event," said Wimmer.
The PCV, in light of the crisis in the Amazon, denounced the criminal behaviour of the consortiums Bayer-Monsanto, Uniliver, Coca-Cola, Nestle, AMBEV, Bunge, BRF Food, Marfring, Louis Dreyfus, Syngenta, Cargill among others. The party considers it the irrefutable task of the Communist Parties and revolutionary social movements of the world to stand up and struggle for the defence of nature and the biodiversity of the planet.

PCV: Voracidad capitalista está detrás del grave incendio en la Amazonia
El Buró Político del Partido Comunista de Venezuela en su rueda de prensa del lunes 26 de agosto, fijó posición sobre la grave situación que afecta a la región de la amazonia en Brasil. Al respecto el camarada Carolus Wimmer, Secretario de Relaciones Internacionales del Comité Central expresó lo siguiente: “el PCV advierte que lo que ocurre en la amazonia no es fuego, es capitalismo. Hay una ola de informaciones que buscan esconder la esencia del problema. La consecuencia de la expansión de los intereses de las transnacionales en nuestra región, naturalmente no solamente ha llevado a la explotación de los trabajadores, la miseria y el hambre en las masas populares; sino también a la destrucción del medio ambiente”
El PCV considera evidente la responsabilidad de las expresiones políticas de la derecha Brasileña y naturalmente el gobierno de Bolsonaro en facilitar la actuación indiscriminada de los grupos monopólicos en la amazonia, al respecto Cárolus recordó “que no es casual que en sus tiempos de senador, el actual presidente de Brasil advirtiera que su política estaría dirigía a eliminar a los pueblos indígenas y para tal fin entregaría armas a grupos armados de los terratenientes brasileños. El impacto en el medio ambiente, de esa política al servicio de los terratenientes y el gran capital la vemos ahora. Por eso decimos claramente que los responsables reales, son las grandes transnacionales que hacen sus negocios a costa de la destrucción de la naturaleza.”
Finalmente el PCV, manifestó que el avance de los incendios por casi 3 semanas pone en peligro 350 grupos de pueblos originarios, afecta 6,7 millones de kilómetros cuadrados de bosques, 2,1 millones de kilómetros cuadrados de áreas protegidas, un millón de kilómetros cúbicos de agua dulce, que a su vez afecta a 2.500 especies marinas. “Esto puede convertirse en un desastre de todo tipo y hasta el momento el gobierno brasileño de la ultraderecha fascista no reacciona de ninguna forma y pretenden presentarlo como un hecho normal” recalcó Carolus Wimmer.
El PCV frente la crisis en la amazonia, denuncia la actuación criminal de los consorcios: Bayer-monsanto, Uniliver, Coca-cola, Nestlé, AMBEV, Bunge, BRF Food, Marfring, Louis Dreyfus, Syngenta, Cargill, entre otras. Considera una tarea ineludible de los Partidos Comunistas y los movimiento social revolucionario del mundo, ponerse al frente en la denuncia y lucha por la defensa de la naturaleza y la biodiversidad del planeta.
