The forces of DAS rallied in PAME (All-Workers Militant Front), alongside other militant trade unionists, recorded a significant rise in votes, reaching around 27% of the delegates, the highest level in decades. This increase was the largest among all competing lists, reflecting a steady shift in the balance of forces within the labour movement.
Despite the persistence of a negative balance of forces in the leadership of the Confederation—maintained through well-known mechanisms, fraud, and employer-government influence—the rise of PAME forces reflects the growing intervention of militant trade unionists in workplaces and sectors, the emergence of new cadres through struggles, and the strengthening of unions that reject passivity and fatalism.
At the same time, the Congress once again exposed the degeneration of employer-controlled and government-aligned trade unionism, which relies on mechanisms disconnected from real workers’ struggles, while reproducing anti-communist rhetoric in an attempt to halt the rise of class-oriented forces.
The strengthening of PAME signals a deepening current of opposition within the working class against capitalist exploitation and anti-worker policies, reinforcing efforts to reorganize the labour movement on a militant, class-struggle line.
This development sends a clear message: the forces of struggle, organization, and class independence are gaining ground within the Greek working class movement.
