The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) is the only party that is "a 100% true fighting and popular opposition" party, said General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Monday evening, addressing KKE's Attica branch event.
Expanding on the event's thematic title on "Who created miraculous tourism?", Koutsoumbas said it was due to KKE's support that workers in the tourism industry experienced first-hand the fact "that only the people save the people, defending their rights at work, securing collective labor agreements, and protecting them from employers' arbitrary exploitation."

While this was going on, he added, New Democracy, SYRIZA and PASOK-KINAL promoted tourism as the "steam engine of the economy," fueled by "the intensity of the exploitation of hotel staff and all workers in the sector," he pointed out.
Concerning the upcoming June 25 elections, Koutsoumbas slammed SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, citing recent Tsipras statements that any vote to parties beyond SYRIZA is a support vote for New Democracy. The KKE leader criticized his comment as one coming from a party that actually facilitated New Democracy's rate of nearly 41% in the May 21 elections.
In fact, Koutsoumbas noted, it was SYRIZA that inadvertedly led hundreds of thousands of voters to New Democracy by promoting itself as the only alternative.
Among others, the General Secretary stressed out that the KKE's election result is optimistic, hopeful, emphasizing that now the maximum possible rallying is required for the KKE to be stronger everywhere. He added that the crucial issue is for the workers to send a resounding warning message, that the next anti-popular ND government will have a hard time when it will be implementing the plans at the expense of the people... "And this message can only be heard loudly in one way: With the even greater strengthening of the KKE in terms of votes and percentages everywhere throughout the country. Because only the KKE is a 100% real militant popular opposition".
