An explosion in the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) Metro has left at least 14 people dead and 51 injured. Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a terrorist probe into the incident. Another explosive device has also been found and defused. The explosion happened as the train was travelling between the stations Tekhnologichesky Institut and Sennaya Ploshchad of the Leningrad Metro, the National Antiterrorism Committee confirmed.
In its statement, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), noted the following as regards the explosion on the Leningrad (St Petersburg) Metro:
"The KKE denounces in the most categorical way the criminal act that took place in the Metro of the city of Leningrad (St. Petersburg) and led to the death and serious injury of the dozens of people.
These acts are not unrelated to the contradictions and antagonisms that are manifesting themselves and being utilized by various forces, with the workers as the victims.
The KKE expresses its support for the working class and people of Russia, who have already paid a similarly high price in blood, and who are once again faced with one of the consequences of capitalist restoration.”
