In a statement the National Political Commission of the PCB stresses out:
Ikaria, or Icaria, is a relatively small island in the Aegean Sea, approximately 20 km southwest of Samos. According to Greek mythology, its name derives from Icarus, son of Daedalus, who fell in the sea because he “flew too close to the sun”.
Apart from its rich history, beautiful villages, friendly people and notorious summer feasts, Ikaria is also known as Greece's “red island”. The results of the recent parliamentary elections of May 21, 2023, came to confirm the tradition, according to which Ikaria is a stronghold of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
The right-wing party of New Democracy (40.79%) prevailed in the elections, while the parties of the new social democracy, that is SYRIZA (20.07%) and MeRA25 (2.62%), which did not cross the 3% threshold, recorded a significant decline. The oldest party of social democracy, PASOK (11.46%), was strengthened, while the nationalist party Hellenic Solution (4.45%) was reelected. You can find the detailed results here: https://inter.kke.gr/en/articles/Significant-rise-of-the-KKE-a-hopeful-message-for-the-people/
Stalin was socialism’s worst enemy. History is easily forgotten, so nostalgia for the “Man of Steel” needs to be guarded against.
Earlier this year (February 2023), in similar joint statement, 30 Communist Parties condemned the anti-communist machinations of the social democratic Venezuelan government.
The full statement reads:
Among the crowd that May Day, 1962, a young photographer focused on the adolescent face of Idolka Sánchez, as she marched in front of the José Martí Memorial in Havana.
One of the almost 2,000 members of the Lidia Doce women’s militia battalion, Idolka saw him approach, camera in hand. He appeared as if hell bent on photographing her, as if he had seen her from a distance and couldn’t let her escape his lens. He had chosen her.
“On behalf of the CC of the KKE, we salute the thousands of workers and young people who took this step today and voted for the KKE, resulting in its considerable rise.
We want to congratulate the thousands of members and cadres of the KKE and KNE who gave their best, contributing to this election result.
More specifically, the KKE gains 7.23% (from 5.3% in 2019) and 425,646 votes.
The Party also increases its MPs, from 15 to 26.
The results:
Under the slogan "Only the people can save the people, with the KKE at the forefront!", thousands of workers, men and women of every age participated in the largest pre-election rally this year.
An excerpt from his speech reads as follows:
“During this pre-election period, an optimistic message is emerging from all over Greece: There are many more people, who, with a clearer mind, draw broader conclusions; who understand that what we have experienced, especially in recent years, was not accidental.
Defeating the AKP by becoming like the AKP was a great illusion and deceiving the people. The so-called Nation Alliance is the subject of this illusion and the effort to deceive the people.
AKP, on the other hand, has been deceiving the country for more than 20 years.
Dimitris Koutsoumbas. the Party's General Secretary, will be the major speaker.
Other major pre-election rallies will take place in Thessaloniki on Monday 15 May, at 7.30 pm, as well as in Patras on Tuesday 16 May at 8 pm.
In a bid to deepen its rule and, in this year’s context, take forward its undemocratic elections, the Mswati autocracy has resuscitated old traffic charges against the Deputy General Secretary of the Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS), Comrade Mxolisi Ngcamphalala. The regime has summoned him to appear in court today for those charges.
For another year, thousands of students supported the lists of Panspoudastiki thus giving a significant boost for the regroupment of the students movement, especially during a period when the conservative New Democracy (ND) government tries to implement reactionary reforms in Education.

— We will provide electricity, water, natural gas and urban transport free of charge.
— We will start working to ensure that all our citizens have a house where they can live humanely within one year, we will seize the houses owned by large construction companies and distribute them to those in need, we will ensure that the rents of our citizens who do not own a house are paid by the state in this one year.
This weekend's coronation was designed to maintain public support for an institution that embodies the gross inequalities, privilege and anti-democratic nature of our society.
Recognising that many people enjoy opportunities to gather together in response to appeals based on patriotism, tradition and ceremony, Britain's ruling class and its mass media have done all in their power to promote this spectacle.
As D. Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the KKE Central Committee, noted: “Only the strength of the KKE will be the indicator of the people’s strength after the elections. And the people of Ioannina have every interest in electing a communist MP for the first time in years."
