UN General Assembly: Another victory for the Cuban people against the U.S. blockade #NoMasBloqueo

The U.N. General Assembly has voted 191 to 2 for the lifting of the U.S. blockade on Cuba as the United States and Israel were the only countries to vote against the resolution. Delegate after delegate called for the end of the blockade, highlighting the progressive and positive role Cuba plays in the international community. 

Before the General Assembly, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated that the policy, which has been imposed for over 50 years by Washington, constitutes a flagrant, massive, and systematic violation of the human rights of Cubans.

Communist Party of Turkey: Mass event dedicated to Socialism and the Republic organized in Izmir

TKP organised a mass activity in Izmir on Socialism and Republic.

The event of TKP, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution led by the Bolsheviks in 1917 and the 94th anniversary of Republic of Turkey’s foundation in 1923, attracted considerable attention despite rainfall with the attendance of thousands of TKP members and friends. 

The event, 'Socialism will suit very well to the "republic"', started with a performance on the October Revolution in 1917 and its achievements for humanity.

Actual Solidarity of the KKE to the Communist and Labor Movement of Pakistan

A delegation of the KKE consisting of Giorgos Marinos, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, and Vasilis Opsimos, member of the Economy Section of the Central Committee, visited Pakistan on October 16-20, invited by the “TAREEK FOUNDATION TRUST” and took part in events in honor of the October Socialist Revolution.
 
In particular, the KKE delegation took part in an international conference on "the 100 Years of the Russian Revolution: 1917-2017", held at the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology in Karachi on October 17th.

There, in a room packed with students and workers, a large number of university professors, historians and writers, they shed light on a variety topics concerning the October Revolution.

Declassified documents expose US role in the 1965-66 massacre of millions of communists in Indonesia

Declassified files have exposed just how much the US knew about and supported the massacre of millions of Indonesians in the 1965 anti-communist purges.

The non-governmental National Security Archive research group published 39 documents on Tuesday, out of thousands of pages of newly declassified files from the US embassy in Jakarta. They cover the period from 1963-66, documenting official knowledge and approval of the army’s death-squad operations to wipe out the three million-strong Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) and its supporters.

Up to three million people were rounded up across the country, executed and dumped in mass graves. The files show that the US provided the Indonesian army with lists of senior communist party officials, equipment and money during the massacres. The purges led to the overthrow of communist-backed nationalist president Sukarno and the 31-year dictatorship of General Suharto.

Golden Dawn's fascists have no place in Santorini!

"The fascist-nazi ideology has no place in our island" underlines the Santorini Party Organisation of the KKE in a statement issued regarding the racist incident of 28th October. 

Last Saturday, a group of around 20 Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party members and "sympathizers" violently disrupted the traditional student parade for the “OXI Day” holiday celebration, because the flag-bearer was a foreign student. 

Just before the parade was about to start, the fascists of Golden Dawn wearing black t-shirts with “Hellas Ultra” printed on them, started shouting and terrorizing both the students who were getting ready for their parade and their parents. The police attempted to negotiate with them, but the atmosphere was already explosive.

Catalonia independence: PCPE reflects on the intra-bourgeois struggle for dominance in Spain

In a brief video message issued on Saturday afternoon, Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont vowed to continue working to build “a free country”. “We must do so resisting repression and threats, without ever abandoning, at any time, civic and peaceful conduct,” he said, adding that his government did not have or want “the argument of force”. 

Madrid reacted to the Catalan parliament’s unilateral declaration of independence on Friday by firing the regional government and dismissing the head of the local police force.

Celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution in New York City

On November 7, 2017 Marxists in New York City will come together to commemorate a revolutionary centenary.  One hundred years to the day since the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution,  US activists and scholars will assemble to celebrate  a socialist revolution which, more than any other, defined the 20th century and still impacts our century, the 21st.

The Bolshevik Revolution stunned a despairing world weary of the mass slaughter in the trenches of the First World War. It sent shock waves through all people’s movements around the world, not least in our country.

1.   Which was the role of the Great October Socialist Revolution and the experience of the soviet power in USSR in the constitution and development of your party?

This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution of 1917 in Russia, which put its seal in the 20^th century. Its outbreak and victory has had a tremendous impact on global developments. The Russian working class with the October Revolution came to embody the vision of millions of working-popular masses for a better life. It has given great impetus to the development of the workers´ movement internationally, accelerated the process of establishing communist parties in many countries, including Greece. In November 1918, representatives of the socialist organizations of Greece originally created the Socialist Workers' Party of Greece (SEKE), which a few years later was renamed toCommunist Party of Greece (KKE). Among the decisions of the KKE's founding conference is a greeting to Soviet Russia, as well as a protest - denunciation against the planned military intervention by the imperialists against Soviet power.

Tsipras meets South Korean PM, adopts the dangerous U.S. position regarding Korean Peninsula

Regarding the visit of South Korea's Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon in Athens and his meeting with his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued the following statement:

"The common statements of Mr.Tsipras and South Korean Premier about the economic relations between the two countries, among them the business of Greek shipowners in South Korea while the shipyards in Greece are under-running or shutting down, must not hide the following very significant thing: Mr. Tsipras adopted all the pretexts of the USA about the nuclear program of North Korea. These (pretexts) have as an actual aim the promotion of the geostrategic interests and dangerous military plans of the USA, which are threatening peace in the Korean Peninsula and the broader region, in the framework of their competition with other powers.

On October 18, 2017, within the framework of various events organized by the KKE to mark the 100^th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, a concert was held with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Greek Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) at the Megaron Music Hall with works by the Soviet composers Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergei Prokofiev, and Aram Khachaturian. 

The ERT Orchestra was directed by internationally renowned orchestra conductor Alexander Myrat.

Who killed Pablo Neruda?

On April 2013, the remains of Chile's Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda had been exhumed in a bid to determine the cause of his death after his assistant alleged he was murdered by Gen Augusto Pinochet's military regime.

Pablo Neruda's bones were interred in the garden of Isla Negra, his beloved beach house on Chile's Pacific coast. He is buried next to his wife and muse, Matilde Urrutia.

Four years later,the investigation into Pablo Neruda's probable cause of death, has found that Chile's most famous poet did not die of prostate cancer. The panel of experts focused on identifying pathogenic bacteria that might have caused his death. Forensic experts told a news conference in the capital Santiago, they were certain Neruda had not been killed by the disease.

KKE: Statement regarding the meeting between PM Tsipras and President Trump in the United States

Regarding the recent meeting between Greek Premier Alexis Tsipras and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington DC, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece issued the following statement:

"The Tsipras-Trump meeting evolved into an- unbelievably cynic- confession that the aim of the trip to the United States was the deeper involvement of Greece in the dangerous plans of USA-NATO in the region, as well as into an outrageous "white-washing" of the Trump government's barbaric policy from the side of Mr.Tsipras.

Only the fact that the SYRIZA-ANEL government received credit from the USA for supporting NATO plans and spending the 2% of the GDP for NATO military equipment, is enough for someone to realize that this meeting can only create new dangers for the Greek people and the other peoples of the region. 

19th World Festival of Youth and Students: Russian authorities tried to prohibit communist symbols!

With an intervention to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Athens, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) protested the unacceptable behaviour of the authorities in Sochi towards members of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) who were participating at the 19th Word Festival of Youth and Students. 

More specifically, as the 902 portal reports, the representatives of KNE faced unprecedented tight security measures and were prohibited from entering the festival venue because they had with them declarations for the 100 years of the October Revolution as well as communist banners with the sickle and hammer!

We honour here at the headquarters of the CC of the KKE the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution, a great epic of struggles and sacrifices for the construction of a new society, without the exploitation of man by man, which the peoples experienced and continue to experience under capitalism and also under the previous exploitative social systems.

This epic, which began victoriously in the country of the Soviets inspired the working class and the peoples all over the world.

PCPE: The right of self-determination is unviable within the Spanish capitalist framework

The Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) issued a statement on the last events in Catalonia.

The statment of the Political Secretariat of the PCPE discussed the last events in Catalonia and decisions of the Council of Ministers. It  reminded that since the beginning of these events the Party had been "warning for months about the invalidity of the independentist process in Catalonia". The Party underlined the reasons "why the exercise of the right of self-determination is unviable within the Spanish capitalist framework".
