KKE: Statement on the US attack against Iran — No participation of Greece in the war

In a statement (here in Greek) concerning the US military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out:

"The direct involvement of the US and the attack with high-powered bombs against Iran is a step towards escalating the imperialist war not only in the Middle East, but across the world.

After Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Palestine, etc., the USA and its allies are bleeding another Middle Eastern country to impose their plans and gain "points" in the battle for primacy in the global imperialist system. The Trump administration serves this goal as well, contrary to what various domestic talking-parrots said, that it would supposedly be an "agent of peace". 

The justification of the attack in the name of "security" and "Iran's nuclear program" has nothing to do with the real aspirations. These are the well-known pretexts that have been used for decades to justify such attacks, as were the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that were never found. 

After this attack, the course of the generalization of imperialist war is now taking on new and possibly irreversible dimensions. Whatever the development at this stage, it is certain that the conflict between the American-NATO bloc and the Eurasian bloc under formation is acquiring new and more advanced characteristics. 

The New Democracy government has great and historical responsibilities. With the support of essentially the other parties of Euro-Atlanticism, it has involved the country in a "domino" of endless conflicts. It has adopted all the pretexts of war and is leading the dangerous warmongering plans, particularly through the American-NATO bases located in Greece and the dispatch of Greek military forces to the war zones. It turns the people and the country into a target for retaliation, as proven by Iran's threats that any "US military force in the region is a legitimate target". After all, this was the meaning of the preparations made a few days ago at the Ministry of National Defense for the "anti-missile protection of the country". 

No trust in the government of war preparation and involvement. Greece out of the war. Here and now, the alarm must be sound. The government has no right and no authorization from the Greek people to drag it into such dangerous adventures. The struggle must strengthen, acquire more massive and militant characteristics, embrace all the bodies of workers, the people and the youth. "To demand the immediate disengagement of the country from the war plans of the US - NATO - EU - Israel, the cessation of all cooperation with the murderous state of Israel, the closure of the US-NATO bases in the country, the return of the Greek frigate from the Red Sea and the artillery battery from Saudi Arabia."
