Communist Youth organizations denounce the theft of symbols of the Communist Youth of Venezuela

At the end of May, several revolutionary and anti-imperialist youth organizations gathered in Namibia for the 21st General Assembly of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY).

Among others, they issued a statement of solidarity with the Communist Youth of Venezuela (JCV) and the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) regarding the legal proceedings against them by the social democratic government of Nicolás Maduro.

In August 2023, the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) stripped the legitimate membership of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) of its acronym and symbols. Since then, political operatives serving Nicolás Maduro's administration have usurped the identity of the PCV and the JCV.

"In particular, we express our rejection of the attempt to usurp the name and symbols of the Young Communists of Venezuela, and the campaign being carried out to normalize the dangerous violation of the right to political organization," the youth groups stated in the document.

Solidarity with the JCV and the PCV

The undersigned revolutionary and anti-imperialist youth organizations, gathered in Namibia, raise our voices to express our solidarity with the Communist Youth of Venezuela (JCV) and its party, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), which since August 2023 have faced a process of judicialization of their internal life and an attempt to usurp their legal personality by persons outside of said organizations.

We express our concern about the way in which the democratic rights and political freedoms of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) and its youth organization, the JCV, are being violated. This is done through judicialization processes that impede due process and the right to defense of the members and leadership of the Party and the Communist Youth of Venezuela.

In particular, we express our rejection of the attempt to usurp the name and symbols of the Young Communist Party of Venezuela, and the campaign being carried out to normalize the dangerous violation of the Young Communist Party's right to political organization. We express our firm support and solidarity with the Young Communist Party's membership and its legitimate leadership in the face of these undemocratic attempts at usurpation.

We call on the Venezuelan government and institutions to cease attacks against the PCV and JCV, end the illegal judicial intervention process, and restore the legal and democratic rights of both revolutionary political organizations.

We reiterate our solidarity with the people of Venezuela in these difficult times and reaffirm our condemnation of the imperialist sanctions being applied illegally and inhumanely against the Venezuelan people.
