Spain: PCTE communists ready for Galicia and Basque Country regional elections

On  the occasion of the upcoming regional elections in the northern Spanish provinces of Galicia and the Basque Country (Euskadi), the International Department of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) issued the following statement:
Next Sunday, July 12 there are elections in Spain held in the territories of Galicia and Euskadi, previously canceled because of the situation generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. In spite of this recent health crisis, the governments of both territories have decided to restart the election, even though they are quite aware of the difficulties in a background like the current one. It is an electoral appointment that will group large masses in front of the doors of the polling stations, where the health of the whole population should be assured without any exception.
The PCTE has decided to stand for both electoral appointments, thus becoming the only communist list present in the ensemble of the Galician provinces and the province of Biscay in Euskadi.

The PCTE stands for the elections in Galicia under the slogan “For a Galicia for the working class”, denouncing the high percentage of unemployment in the territory, the thousands of workers under temporary layoffs and the announcements for the closure of some large companies like Alcoa. All of this is happening even though the Government of Spain had announced in all the media that “firing was forbidden.” Besides, they are denouncing “the relentless cuts in education, health and social services, which sold thousands of employments out and increased precariousness and poverty” in Galicia as well as the destruction of the “productive sectors like industry, agriculture and fishing”.
On its part, the PCTE in Euskadi stands for the elections in the province of Biscay under the slogan “For a Euskadi for the working class”, a slogan born from and for the working class. They are also demanding “a Euskadi with full employment, industry and public services to serve the working class (…) a Government to serve the Basque working class with facts and not words”.
In both processes, the participation of the PCTE is made from the political interventions in all the areas. This electoral participation should serve to reinforce the development of the Party organization in Biscay (Euskadi) and in all over Galicia by taking advantage of all the scenarios to promote the need of Socialism-Communism as the only comprehensive solution for the serious problems faced by the working class and the working people. Because of it, and because only the people save the people, on July 12 the vote for the working class is the vote to the PCTE candidacies in Galicia and Euskadi.
