Cuba strongly condemns the assassination attempt on Venezuelan President Maduro

In a statement released earlier, the Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba strongly condemns the assassination attempt against Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and expresses full solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution and the people of Venezuela

More specifically, the statement writes that the Cuban government "strongly condemns the attack against the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on Saturday August 4 during a military parade in Caracas, on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Bolivarian National Guard".

The Cuban government calls the assassination attempt in Caracas an "act of terrorism which, as the statement writes "ignores the will of the Venezuelan people, means a new desperate attempt to achieve, through the means of assassination, what it could not have obtained in multiple elections, nor through the coup of the state of 2002 against the then President Hugo Chávez, the oil coup of 2003 and the unconventional war waged through media campaigns, sabotage, and violent and cruel acts."

Furthermore, "the Revolutionary Government denounces a more rapid war against the legitimate government of Venezuela, as part of the policy of harassment of imperialism for overthrowing the Bolivarian Revolution, which includes the arbitrary and aggressive Executive Order of the United States that qualifies Venezuela as "A threat unusual and extraordinary to national security and foreign policy" of the superpower, unilateral economic sanctions violating international law, the declaration of the Secretary of State of the United States of the full validity of the Monroe Doctrine, his call for a military coup against the constitutional Government of Venezuela and the warning of the President of the United States of America for "a possible military option".

The statement of the Revolutionary Government of Cuba reminds what Raul Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, had said during a speech on July 14th, 2017.

"We are warning today that they intend to overthrow the Bolivarian and Chavista Revolution through unconstitutional, violent and coupist means, and will assume a serious responsibility towards history.", Raul Castro had pointed out among other things.

The Revolutionary Government of Cuba expresses its full and unwavering solidarity with Venezuela and the unrestricted support for President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the civic-military union of the Bolivarian and Chavista people.
