British Communist Party announces first candidates for 4 July General Election

The Communist Party of Britain (CPB) has announced its first Westminster parliamentary candidates for the General Election on 4 July 2024. The Party’s Political Committee met on Thursday 23 May and endorsed plans from local CP organisations to fight seats in England, Scotland and Wales, with more candidates to be announced next week.

Candidates so far include former housing and local government worker Lorraine Douglas, who will be challenging ex-Prime Minister Liz Truss in South West Norfolk, and trade union organiser Darren Turner, also an activist in the Toothless in Suffolk campaign. He will be flying the red flag in Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket.

Rishi Sunak, just another enemy of the working class

Rishi Sunak, a 42 years-old former Goldman Sachs employee, is the new leader of the British Conservative Party and third Prime Minister of the country in just two months. 

The fact that Boris Johnson and Liz Truss are out of 10 Downing Street isn't a reason for celebrations as Sunak is just another political representative of monopoly capitalism and certainly an enemy of the working class.

Young Communist League on the death of Elizabeth II

The Central Committee of the Young Communist League of Britain has issued the following statement in response to the death of Elizabeth Windsor, aka Queen Elizabeth II: 

The death of Elizabeth Windsor highlights to our generation and working people across Britain that the abolition of the monarchy remains a pressing and important issue.  

It is fundamentally clear, now more than ever, that Britain must become a modern republic. A tiny interbreeding sect of a decaying aristocracy cannot and will never reflect the interests of working people in Britain.

Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee: 70 years of hurt

Armed constables amass in Westminster; police drones and helicopters flutter in the skies; Her Majesty’s homeless subjects are cleared from the streets. Tom Cruise takes a moment out of promoting Top Gun: Maverick to gurn through a televised royal circus show. The bunting flies resplendently above emaciated high streets. ‘Midst the worst immiseration in 40 years, there’s momentous pomp, procession, and pageantry — the platinum motherfucking jubilee.
