European Communist Meeting held in Brussels: Speech by KKE General Secretary Koutsoumbas

On the initiative of the MEPs of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the European Communist Meeting was successfully held in Brussels on 2 December on the theme “The EU of imperialist wars, capitalist exploitation and anti-communism and Lenin’s timely work on the Slogan for a United States of Europe”.

The introductory speech was given by the GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas. Kostas Papadakis, member of the CC and MEP of the KKE, opened the event and Lefteris Nikolaou – Alavanos, MEP of the KKE, gave the closing speech. Giorgos Marinos, member of the PB of the CC of the KKE, and Eliseos Vagenas, member of the CC and head of the International Relations Section of the KKE, also attended the meeting.

 

KKE leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

In a statement (here in Greek) concerning the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which was established by the UN in 1977, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas notes:

"We join our voices with the voice of the people of Palestine, with the voices of the peoples of the whole world who demand: The genocide that the state of Israel, the war criminal Netanyahu who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, is carrying out in the Gaza Strip with the support of the US, NATO and the EU, must stop here and now.

 

Koutsoumbas: On the escalation of the imperialist war between NATO and Russia — The Greek government should stop supporting the Zelensky regime

In a statement (22/11) concerning the escalation of the imperialist war between NATO and Russia in Ukraine, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, points out:

“Following the use of American and British weapons against Russia by the Zelensky regime and the modification of Russia’s nuclear doctrine by Putin and their related statements, it is now obvious that there is a major escalation of the imperialist war. The risk of an immediate generalization is more than visible.

On 6 November, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the KKE, spoke at a mass meeting on the island of Rhodes, on the theme “Rhodes: An upgraded tourist product at the crossroads of NATO plans. The consequences for the lives and rights of the people”.

The GS of the CC of the KKE, among other things, referred in detail to the two imperialist wars in the Middle East and Ukraine and denounced the involvement of the New Democracy government alongside the USA, NATO and the EU.

Memorials dedicated to communist guerrillas unveiled by the KKE in northern Greece

With two events held in the northern provinces of Florina and Kastoria on Sunday 27 October, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) unveiled two new memorials dedicated to the struggle of the Democratic Army of Greece, the communist-backed guerrilla army which fought against the bourgeois forces and their imperialist allies during the 1946-1949 Civil War.

Both events were attended by the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas. 

 

KKE's Secretary Koutsoumbas: Mitsotakis must answer regarding Greece's involvement in Ukraine and Middle East wars

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Friday criticized the government's stance toward the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and called for the immediate briefing of the political parties and parliament.

"In the context of US and NATO's dangerous plans, the New Democracy government is involving Greece without any limits or barriers in the two conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, increasing the danger for the Greek people," he said.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) expressed its sadness over the death of Indian communist leader Sitaram Yechury, who passed away yesterday at the age of 72. In a letter signed by General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the KKE praises Yechury's contribution to the international communist movement.

KKE and the Communist Party of Cuba reaffirm strong fraternal relations during Koutsoumbas' visit in Havana

The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reaffirmed their strong, fraternal relations during a meeting in Havana, within the framework of the visit paid by KKE General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas on the island. 

More specifically, as Granma reported,  the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, received on Saturday 13/7 Koutsoumbas and the delegation accompanying him.

KKE's General Secretary to visit Cuba on 10-15 July

A delegation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), headed by General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will visit Cuba on 10-15 July, following an invitation by Cuba's Communist Party (PCC), Rizospastis reports. 

The visit will include numerous bilateral meetings between the two fraternal parties, including the Union of Young Communists (UJC), the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (Central de Trabajadores de Cuba - CTC) and other bodies of the Cuban people's movement.

On 19^th June in an interview with the radio station “Real FM”, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the KKE, referred to the results of the recent European elections held in Greece and the rest of the EU. 

Specifically for Greece, he noted that “there has been another significant electoral rise of the KKE, starting from the 2019 European elections (5.35%), the 2023 parliamentary elections of May (7.2%) and June (7.7%), and now the European elections (9.25%). This confirms that positive processes are taking place in society,in the struggles and the elections of the mass movement. I would say that a current disputing the dominant policy, i.e. that of the Commission, the EU and the New Democracy government, is being stabilized and strengthened; and, of course, this current is mainly expressed by the increase in the prestige of the KKE and in the rallying of broader forces around it.”

European elections 2024 - Greece: Massive rally by the KKE in Athens sends message of struggle and hope

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) "will rise even higher," the Party's General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas said during a large pre-election rally held at Syntagma Square on Thursday night. 

Secretary Koutsoumbas stressed the KKE's determination to send a resounding, hopeful message of unwavering struggle, by increasing the party's percentages in the upcoming European elections on Sunday 9 June. 

Dimitris Koutsoumbas: The EU is only getting worse — A strong KKE, no other solution exists

A strong result for KKE in the European Parliament elections on June 9 will "be the best investment for the future, for all that we have to face and the battles we will fight together", underlined Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) during a speech in the Athens district of Kolonos on Sunday.

"The people are now well aware that there are no saviours... that no governmental stability, nor any governmental change, is going to change their life as long as there no real blows to the policy that sacrifices their rights for the profits of the few. This is the system and this is the EU of exploitation, wars and injustice," he said.

 

KKE General Secretary Koutsoumbas to visit Germany — KKE-Generalsekretär besucht Deutschland

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will visit Germany on 9-11 May, according to a report published on 902.gr portal.  

 

Being the head of a Party delegation, the KKE General Secretary will visit Dachau, Munich, Dusseldorf and Wuppertal.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), was the keynote speaker of a political and cultural event organized by the Party's Friends Club in New York on Saturday 27 April. The event, attended by dozens of members of the Greek Diaspora who live and work in the U.S, was held at the Kefalos Society of America in Astoria.

The opening speech was made by Kostas Lourdas on behalf of the KKE Friends Club in New York, while interventions were also made by KKE candidates for European Parliament, Lefteris Nikolaou Alavanos and Kostas Gouliamos, who accompanied Koutsoumbas in his North American trip.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of KKE, to visit Canada and the USA on 21-27 April

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will visit Canada and the United States on 21-27 April 2024, 902 portal reported.

Being the head of a delegation, the KKE General Secretary will have meetings with expatriate Greeks in Toronto and Montreal, as well as with labour unions and representatives of the Communist Party of Canada. Koutsoumbas will also address political events organized in the two Canadian cities. 

KKE leader Koutsoumbas declines participation in Delphi Economic Forum due to Zelensky

In a statement issued on Friday, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) said that "following the announcement that the leader of the reactionary regime of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is participating in the Delphi Economic Forum, as well the holding of a closed-door meeting with the participation of NATO in which Ukraine's accession to the Alliance will obviously be discussed, it goes without saying that KKE's General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas or any other party member will take part in the Forum". 

Dimitris Koutsoumbas: With a stronger KKE in Greece and abroad, for a great pan-European counterattack

Speaking in Nicosia, Cyprus on Sunday, the General Secretary of the CE of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, called for strengthening of the Party in the upcoming European Parliament elections.

"With a much stronger KKE much stronger in Greece and abroad, let's trumpet a pan-European counterattack! Let's send the appropriate message to the EU of brutality: A stronger KKE and bigger mass counter-attack struggles for the right of the peoples," he stressed. 

KKE honors Lenin's 100th death anniversary: "Hold high the flag of socialism-communism, the red flag of Lenin"

In the fully-packed conference hall at the headquarters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in Athens, people of every age, workers, people of Letters, Sciences and Culture, young men and women, attended on Wednesday 20 March an event in honor of the 100th death anniversary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the 20th century's greatest revolutionary.

The event, organized by the Party's Central Committee, consists part of a series of political and cultural events in honor of the Bolshevik revolutionary and father of the Soviet Union, on the occasion of the 100 years since his death. 

 

Mass rally of the KKE in Athens: No participation of Greece in NATO’s abattoir of war!

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, was the main speaker at the mass rally held by the KKE outside the Greek parliament on Monday 11 March.

In his speech, D. Koutsoumbas called on the people to break the omerta that the New Democracy government and all other parties are trying to impose on the involvement of our country in the imperialist wars raging in the region and in all the dangerous plans of the USA and NATO. “The message that the New Democracy government and the warmongering EU will receive in the coming elections, should be much more resounding! The only ballot paper that can carry this anti-war message across Europe is that of the KKE”, he stressed.
