Vietnam and Cuba celebrate 65 years of diplomatic relations: Díaz-Canel pays tribute to Ho Chi Minh

At the invitation of General Secretary of the First Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, First Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez is paying a state visit to Vietnam and attending celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day from August 31 to September 2.  The visit takes place in the context of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba on December 2, 1960.

Cuba and Vietnam celebrate 60 years of a genuine friendship

Shortly after the successful revolution, on December 2, 1960, the Republic of Cuba, under the leadership of Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro, became the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish full diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

This week, Cuban and Vietnamese senior leaders celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which they described as exemplary.
