This is a strong reminder that anti-communism doesn't exist merely in Ukraine or the western capitalist democracies, but in contemporary Russia as well. Alongside the appropriation of soviet symbols, the Russian government never forgets to honor tsarist counterrevolutionaries, reactionaries, Nazi collaborators (like Pyotr Krasnov) and openly fascist ideologues like Ivan Ilyin.
It is not a coincidence that the Higher Political School of Moscow's Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU) was recently named after Ilyin, one of Putin's favorite philosophers, thus provoking plausible reaction from students and academic staff.
