Communist Youth of Greece condemns the murder of 17-year-old Nahel by police in France

In a statement the International Relations Committee of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), the youth wing of the KKE, refers to the murder of 17-year-old Nahel M. in Nanterre, France and the subsequent mass demonstrations throughout the country. The statement reads:

“The Communist Youth of  Greece condemns the murder of Nahel, a 17-year old boy of Algerian origin, on Tuesday 27 June 2023 in Nanterre, Paris, who was shot at point-blank range by a police officer because he... “refused to comply” during a traffic control.

The new cold-blooded murder by police fire is added to a long and growing list of victims of state violence and repression, proving that state repression and police abuse are components of a state that is hostile to the people.

It is no coincidence that similar incidents have increased in France, Greece, EU member-states, the US and all over the world, whether the government is controlled by liberal or social democratic forces and go hand by hand with the prohibition and the restriction of demonstrations and strikes, alongside the attack on the rights and dreams of the new generation and the workers.

This is proven by the unacceptable statements of Macron's government officials, who attempt to slander the huge protests and the genuine popular anger, while increasing the repression by deploying 40,000 police officers!

We express our solidarity with the people and youth of France who are rightly overflowing with anger, with the tens of thousands of workers, young men and women who have taken to the streets in Paris, as well as in other cities, demanding justice and denouncing police brutality and arbitrariness. We are strengthening or fight against the criminal policy of EU and governments across Europe, against the system of exploitation, poverty and repression”.
