With slogans like “NATO-US bases out of Greece” and “No participation in imperialist interventions”, thousands of young men and women, members and friends of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), protested in Athens against the visit of the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Greece.
Marching outside the US Embassy, the protesters sent a powerful message that the US “minister of war” is not welcome in Greece and demanded the immediate closure of all US-NATO military bases in the country, 902 portal reported.

At the same time, KNE sent a message of solidarity to the earthquake-hit people of Turkey and Syria, demanding the lift of the murderous blockade imposed by the US, NATO and EU against on Syria. The rally was attended, among others, by Giorgos Marinos and Thodoris Chionis, members of the Politburo of the CC of the KKE, Loukas Anastasopoulos, member of the CC, the Party's MPs Christos Katsotis and Giorgos Lambroulis, as well as by the newly-elected Secretary of the Central Council of KNE Thodoris Kotsantis.
A greeting speech was delivered by Dimophili Chalkioti, member of the CC of KNE.
A similar protest took place in Greece's second largest city, Thessaloniki, where members and supporters of KNE and the KKE marched against Blinken's visit in the country and demanded Greece's disengagement from the dangerous NATO plans.
Shouting slogans like “Thessaloniki is a port of the people and not a base of imperialists” and “Neither land nor water to the people's murderers”, the protesters gathered outside the US Consulate in the city center. The rally was attended by KKE MPs Giannis Delis and Leonidas Stoltidis as well as by members of the Party's Central Committee.
