Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel slams US imperialism at the UN General Assembly

The President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez participated in the General Debate of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Below, you can read his full speech:
Madam President:
Mister Secretary-General:
It is impossible to be here, speak from this rostrum on behalf of Cuba, and not recall historic moments of the General Assembly which are also part of our dearest memories: Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Raúl Castro and the "Chancellor of Dignity", Raúl Roa, just to mention the most significant, have brought here not only the voice of our people but also the voice of other Latin American and Caribbean, African, Asian, non-aligned peoples, with whom we have shared more than half a century of struggles for a fair international order, which is still far off being attained.

United Nations: Major diplomatic defeat for the U.S. government - 128 countries rejected Trump's decision on Jerusalem

Cartoon: Carlos Latuff.
More than 120 countries defied President Donald Trump on Thursday and voted in favor of a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for the United States to drop its recent recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. More specifically, in favor of the UNGA resolution voted 128 countries, 9 countries voted against and 35 countries abstained.

"[The resolution] Affirms that any decisions and actions which purport to have altered, the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are null and void," the document said. The document also calls upon UN members to "refrain from the establishment of diplomatic missions in the Holy City of Jerusalem".
