The 48th KNE-Odigitis Festival kicked off in Athens

The 48th KNE-Odigitis Festival, the annual festival organized by the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), kicked off on Thursday at Tritsis Park, Athens.

Thousands of people of every age, from every corner of Athens but also from other cities, attended the events of the first day which included music concerts, political discussions, stand up comedy and other activities.

Among the events, the first day of the Festival was marked by music concerts given by popular artists, including concerts dedicated to Mikis Theodorakis, poet and playwright Iakovos Kampanelis, popular composer Manolis Chiotis, Asia Minor, etc. An emotional event was held in memory of communist actor and former KKE MP, Kostas Kazakos, who died a week ago.

Numerous visitors attended the political event titled “The imperialist war in Ukraine and the stance of the communists”, with the keynote speaker being Eliseos Vagenas, head of the International Relations Section of the CC of the KKE. Other speakers included Ivan Zakorov on behalf of the Revolutionary Communist Youth League of Russia (Bolsheviks), while a statement of the youth wing of the Union of Communists of Ukraine was read. At the sidelines of the event, Frixos Brouzgos, member of the CC of the KNE, presented the new booklet of KNE's ideological committee under the title “Truths and Lies for Capitalism” which focuses on the imperialist war.

It must be noted that 35 representatives of Communist Youths and Anti-imperialist youth organizations are participating in this year's festival in Athens. The kiosks of the foreign delegations, which attract the interest of the festival's visitors, are located in the so-called “International City” in the heart of Tritsis Park.

Under the slogan “The new generation with KKE for the big, the beautiful, the sensational” (N. Beloyannis)- Socialism, the answer in the 21st century”, this year's KNE-Odigitis Festival concludes its journey with the three-day events in Athens (22, 23, 24 September 2022).

On Saturday 25th September, last day of the festival, a large political event will take place at Tritsis Park, with major speaker being the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas and the Secretary of KNE Nikos Abatielos.
