Communist Party of Mexico slams Obrador's "left illusion", calls for class struggle

Since the 1st of December, the new President of Mexico is Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the social democrat politician known by the initials AMLO and head of the MORENA coalition. Although López Obrador is promoted by mainstream media as a "left" change in the country's politics, the truth is that he is another alternative choice of Mexico's bourgeois class for the implementation of pro-capitalist, pro-monopolies policy agenda.

Despite his rhetoric and some populist decisions (selling off the presidential aircraft, 60% cut of his salary), the strategic orientation of his government is towards the strengthening of Mexican capitalism, something that bodes anti-workers, anti-people measures in the long term.

A firm voice in defense of the workers' rights is the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) which has called the country's popular strata not to be drawn into the illusions created by the media about the supposed "left government" of AMLO. In a statement, the Communist Party calls the working men and women, the unemployed people and the youth not to be fooled by López Obrador's rhetoric and to fight for the transformation of society.

"In Mexico there is no change, do not be fooled; As long as capitalism continues, the situation will be the same for us: exploitation, unemployment, hunger, misery, death, while the bourgeoisie and its monopolies will continue to accumulate wealth, increasing their fortunes at the expense of our life and work" writes the PCM statement.

The Communist Party of Mexico points out among other issues:

"That is what the government of López Obrador means, the continuity of capitalism, the continuity of exploitation, the continuity of the power of monopolies. Since he was Governor of Mexico City, and in his previous campaigns (2006 and 2012), in the political platforms he was presenting, he is clear about what he is looking for and therefore has a very solid relationship with the employers, with businessmen, with the lords of the monopolies, that is, the class of capitalists that dominates and governs this country, formerly through the PRI and PAN, and soon with the face of MORENA. What is good for the capitalists is not good for the workers.

The interests of the workers and those of the bourgeoisie that Lopez Obrador represents today are antagonistic, irreconcilable, but to maintain power they seek to make us believe that we have common interests, that "national unity" is the main thing. But this is not the case; the main thing is the class struggle and for real and radical changes in this country we need to overthrow the bourgeoisie by installing the power of the workers, the workers' power. We need to organize and fight, so it is important to clarify that in the country there is no change, that the struggle continues".

De una reciente demostración del PCM.
A la clase obrera:
Trabajadores y trabajadoras:
Joven trabajador, joven desempleado:
Mujer trabajadora:
