Venezuela: The Communist Party (PCV) will back the candidacy of Nicolas Maduro

According to Prensa Latina, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) announced that it will back the candidacy of President Nicolas Maduro, in an effort to work for the development of the country and the people.

A week ago, the resolution of the PCV's 14th National Conference had proposed a "PSUV-PCV Unified Pact" based on a "broad coalition of political and social forces".

According to an agreement released yesterday by the national press, the pact includes 17 actions in order to protect social struggles, safeguard the rights of the working class and the projection of more social, economic and political initiatives.

It also contains the commitment of the PCV to support the candidacy for the April 22 presidential elections of President Nicolas Maduro, who will formalize his nomination today in front of the National Electoral Board.

According to the Venezuelan News Agency, both parties agreed to hold bilateral meetings to analyze the execution of the agreement that, according to the document, aims to confront the crisis of Venezuelan rentier capitalism.

The two parties agreed that this system, inherited from governments prior to the establishment 18 years ago of the Bolivarian Revolution, still seriously affects the quality of life of the Venezuelan people, especially their purchasing power and supply of goods and services.
