In a speech yesterday, 11/9, at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair, the General Secretary of
the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas, stressed that a truly new productive model is only possible
through the radically different path of development proposed by the KKE.
"And this is the road of abolishing capitalist ownership and voracious profit. It is the road of workers' power, of a people's government, of socialism," he said.
"And this is the road of abolishing capitalist ownership and voracious profit. It is the road of workers' power, of a people's government, of socialism," he said.
"Either “totalitarian” or supposedly “democratic” capitalism, means cheap labor, an increase in the degree of exploitation and an exacerbation of sectoral asymmetry, which is due to the profit rate as the main criterion for selecting investments. This is why there can be no capitalist management that will develop the country's productive forces equitably, let alone do this for the benefit of the workers, the KKE General Secretary underlined.
Secretary Koutsoumbas strongly criticized the measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the TIF, arguing that 95% of tax revenues once again come from the popular strata, while the large conglomerates and monopolies are left out of the picture.
Concerning the reports about the interest of US multi-national energy giants (Chevron) for the energy reserves south of Crete, Koutsoumbas noted: "Really, since when are the sovereign rights of the country confirmed or annulled by the business intentions of each monopoly?".
