In a statement, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the recent murderous military attack of the Israeli state in southern Lebanon and calls for a mass popular condemnation of these crimes. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads:
"The KKE calls for mass popular condemnation of the new crimes committed by the terrorist state of Israel in Lebanon, which have so far resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. The attacks in Lebanon, combined with the ongoing operations in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine, constitute an escalation of the war in the Middle East with unpredictable dimensions in which the peoples will be the victims.
The pretexts of "self-defense", used to justify the new crimes, have long since collapsed thus revealing Israel's plans, with the backs of the USA - NATO - EU, to consolidate its imperialist rule at the expense of the region's peoples using every means, such as the bombing of civilians, terrorist attacks, the occupation of foreign territories and of course the genocide against the people of Palestine.
The government of New Democracy (ND) bears criminal responsibilities, because from the first moment it assumed the role of the "advocate" of Israel's crimes and offered all this time full political and military support to their commission. In this way, he has involved the country in a dangerous war in our neighborhood that can become generalized at any time. Responsibilities also lie within the other Euro-Atlantic parties which, either by adopting Israeli pretexts, or by their silence, or by the policy of equal distances and equating the perpetrator with the victim, "oil" Israel's politics.
It is more than ever necessary to strengthen the fight against the crimes of the Israeli state and the US-NATO-EU policy that supports them. To express solidarity with the peoples who are "bleeding" because of imperialist plans.
