KKE denounces the persecution of HDP deputy Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu in Turkey

In a statement issued today the Press Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the political prosecution against the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party's MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu by the Turkish government.

More specifically the statement, which was published on 902 portal, points out:

“The KKE denounces the AKP's Turkish government for the intensification of authoritarianism and repression against the worker-people's movement in Turkey and the “industry” of persecutions, under pretentious and fabricated accusations, against its (government's) political opponents.

A recent characteristic example of this policy of persecutions was the the court decision that imposes a 2.5-year prison sentence to the MP of the HDP (People's Democratic Party)  Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu based on fabricated accusations about “terrorism”.

The KKE demands an immediate end to the unacceptable political persecutions against  Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, other HDP deputies and representatives of other political and social organizations.

We express our solidarity to the struggling people of Turkey, who are fighting for their social and political rights, for peace in the region, against the interests of the bourgeois classes and imperialist plans”.
