In a statement concerning the attack by Israeli armed forces on “Global Sumud Flotilla,” the Press Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) emphasizes the following:
“The KKE condemns the attack by the Israeli armed forces on the flotilla ‘Global Sumud Flotilla,’ among which is the ship ‘Oxygono’ (Oxygen) of the Greek mission, whose aim is to transport humanitarian aid to the blockaded Gaza.

This piratical attack fully reflects the ‘pirate’ character of the murderous state of Israel, which acts in violation of every concept of international law against the Palestinian people and the solidarity movement toward them.
Once again the hypocrisy of the European Union and its support of Israel’s policies is revealed, leaving the crew exposed to an Israeli “raid.” The Greek government likewise bears great responsibility, because despite multiple appeals it did absolutely nothing to protect the crew members, being committed to its strategic alliance with the murderous state. Even now, it is necessary to ensure the safe approach of the ships to Gaza for the delivery of humanitarian aid, and to release the crew members being held by Israel.”
