KKE denounces the persecution of EMEP Party members by the Turkish authorities

Left: EMEP's leader Selma Gürkan.
In a statement published on 902 portal, the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), denounces the dangerous escalation of repression, under the responsibility of the Turkish government, which attempts to criminalize every opposition voice, criticism or challenge of Turkey's imperialist military intervention on the territory of Syria, namely in Afrin.

The KKE condemns the arrests of EMEP (Labour Party) members, which were detained for distributing leaflets against Turkey's military intervention. We especially condemn the call to account on Tuesday 9th October of the party's president Selma Gürkan for "terrorist propaganda", because in a speech she criticized the Turkish involvement in Afrin.

We demand an immediate halt to any persecution and to ensure the uninhibited mass and political activity of Turkish workers who have every right to fight against the participation of their country in the imperialist wars and plans.
