Hands off Spanish communist youth! KNE and TKP denounce police repression in Madrid

The violent intervention of Spanish police against students and university workers at Madrid's Complutense University on October 14 has sparked international solidarity from communist organizations in Greece and Turkey.

During mobilizations in defence of public education, police attacked student pickets, arresting five people, including a member of the Communist Youth Collectives (CJC), the youth wing of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE). Several protesters, including CJC militants, were injured, with some requiring hospital treatment.

The Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) strongly condemned the police repression, expressing solidarity with the CJC, the arrested students and the university workers. In a statement, the KNE denounced the social-democratic government of Pedro Sánchez for its repressive policies and demanded an end to attacks against young people fighting for their rights.

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) also expressed solidarity with the PCTE and CJC, condemning the police intervention and reaffirming its support for the struggle of Spanish communists and working people.

The solidarity statements highlight the internationalist bonds between communist organizations confronting state repression and attacks on public education and workers' rights.
