KKE leader Koutsoumbas meets Palestinian Foreign Minister, reiterates unwavering solidarity

Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), reaffirmed the party’s steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people during a meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Varsen Aghapekian Sahin.

The meeting took place at the Embassy of Palestine in Athens and was attended by KKE representatives, including Politburo Member and MP Giorgos Marinos as well as Elias Nasir from the Party’s International Relations Section.

Upon his arrival, Secretary Koutsoumbas made the following statement:

“Our solidarity is given toward the Palestinian people. Today we continue to be on alert, to continue expressing our sympathy and our solidarity until this process is completed, until Israeli occupation ceases in Palestine, in the Palestinian territories, until the settlements cease, until all prisoners return to their homes and the blockaded return to their hearths, and of course until there exists an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.

In this struggle we will stand by the side of the Palestinian people and be ready for the realization of all that so far has only been proclaimed in words.”

In her response, Minister Sahin thanked the KKE for its “kind supportive action,” expressing deep appreciation for “the friendship of Greece and its people,” and for its collaboration “in the struggle we wage for liberation,” so that Palestinians may “live safely and peacefully with our neighbors.”
