In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the Central Committee of the Syrian Communist Party expresses its gratitude concerning the internationalist devotion and humanitarian care the KKE demonstrated towards the late Ammar Bakdash, during his stay in Greece.
The letter, published in 902 portal, reads:
“Comrade Dimitris Koutsoumbas,
General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece,
Our dear comrades of the Communist Party of Greece
We express our most sincere thanks and gratitude for the noble devotion and high-level humanitarian care you demonstrated during the stay of comrade Ammar Bakdash, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Syrian Communist Party.
You were loyal, you were his second family and his support during the ordeal that our country is experiencing. What you offered, from his hospitality to his burial in your country, was nothing more than a natural extension of your humanity, your internationalism and your deeply rooted and noble revolutionary ethics.
You organized a full and solemn farewell ceremony in his honor, with respect and dignity, as if he were one of you, which deeply moved us. It was impossible to bury him in the way he deserved in Damascus, the city he loved the most, due to the presence of this obscurantist power.
This devotion of yours cannot be repaid in words, it is preserved in the consciousness of all Syrian communists and their masses. We consider these noble positions as an important addition to the strong historical relationship between our two parties, which is based on our common belief in Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism.
We will work to deepen this relationship in the future, given its importance for maintaining the real revolutionary core of the world communist and workers' movement.
Once again, the Central Committee of the Party and all Syrian communists express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to you. We highly appreciate this internationalist stance which we will never forget.
